Chicken Out update

Chicken_Out The response to Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s campaign so far has been huge; sales of free range and higher welfare poultry are up by 30-40% according to the supermarkets’ own figures. Other sources estimate that the demand for free range has more than doubled. The major supermarkets are struggling to keep up with this new demand, and the poultry industry has begun a substantial reconfiguration to supply it.

I’m sure you’ve seen evidence of this for yourselves, as I have - the organic and free range chicken shelves are emptying quickly - a great testament to the success of the campaign.

About this Site

Where are we based?
Eating Britain is a UK Food website run by David & Sarah, two food enthusiasts living on the South coast of England just along the road from Brighton which is one of the most ‘organic conscious’ communities in Britain.

What are we about?
Eating Britain was founded on the desire to know more about food intolerances, healthy eating and ethical practices - organic, free range and local produce. Whilst we research these subjects, we introduce associated recipes and ideas.

According to research conducted by Loyd Grossman Sauces it looks as though we do want to try new things, we’re just not confident enough about the more exotic flavours. Two thirds of us put ingredients such as cinnamon and chilli in our shopping basket showing at least some willingness to give new things a go. Sadly though a quarter of us never actually get round to using them. Instead we leave them forgotten and forlorn at the back of the cupboard, never to fulfil the greatness they were destined for.

Orgran Natural Foods

Orgran When the doctor first told me that I needed to exclude gluten from my diet as much as possible, I was horrified! At that point I knew very little about living a gluten free life style and I believed I would have to ‘police’ every single thing I ate, eating only food I had prepared myself. I had visions of having to miss out on so many of the foods that I love, including breads and pastas. However, as my GF journey continues, I am constantly discovering alternatives and substitutes.
